Exclusive Aston Martin Vantage DTM to be auctioned in Monaco
As part of the Monaco Historic Grand Prix from 10 to 12 May, a large number of historic automobiles will be offered to interested buyers at the RM Sotheby's auction. One of these will be one of only five Aston Martin Vantage DTM cars produced, which was developed and fielded by HWA AG. Daniel Juncadella raced this car in the 2019 DTM season and it is now up for sale along with an extensive spare parts package and a two-day introduction.
Affalterbach / Monte-Carlo – The Principality of Monaco has always been closely associated with motorsport. Every year, the world's fastest drivers compete in the Monaco Grand Prix on the legendary street circuit on the Côte d'Azur. The Aston Martin brand has also made a name for itself in the recent past of this tradition-steeped event. Two-time Formula 1 world champion and Monaco winner Fernando Alonso finished second in an Aston Martin at last year's Monaco Grand Prix. The Spaniard is regarded as one of the great all-rounders in modern motorsport. In addition to his world championship titles in Formula 1, Fernando Alonso has also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice and taken part in the Indianapolis 500 and the Dakar Rally. As an internationally successful all-rounder, Alonso is also fascinated by the highly technical Class 1 touring cars. Due to his relationship with Aston Martin, he acquired one of the five Aston Martin Vantage DTMs produced by HWA AG in order to push it to the limit himself at trackdays and private events. Now one of the sister cars is up for sale at the RM Sotheby's auction on 11 May as part of the Monaco Historic Grand Prix.
The Aston Martin Vantage DTM represents a chapter in motorsport history. After the successful DTM era with Mercedes-Benz, HWA applied its years of experience to the development and construction of Aston Martin's Class 1 racing car, which was developed and brought to the race track in record time. In the 2019 season, Daniel Juncadella drove the V38-063 chassis, which is now for sale, to seven top 10 results, making him the most successful Aston Martin driver this year. The Class 1 touring cars of this era were probably the most advanced racing cars alongside Formula 1, which is also reflected in the technical data.
The turbocharged in-line four-cylinder engine with a displacement of almost two litres delivers 650 hp and 650 NM of torque at a maximum speed of 9500 rpm. With the "Push-to-Pass" system, the output can be increased by a further 30 to 50 hp. The sequential six-speed gearbox in transaxle design receives the power from the engine via a carbon cardan shaft and a four-disc carbon clutch and transmits it to the rear axle. An advanced chassis with double wishbones and spring-damper units on the front and rear axles operated by push rods ensure sufficient balance on the racetrack. The carbon brake system is responsible for deceleration and provides more than sufficient braking power in all situations. With a kerb weight of at least 986 kg, the Aston Martin Vantage DTM has a power-to-weight ratio of just 1.52 kg/hp.
The body of the Aston Martin Vantage DTM is also designed to minimise drag. The carbon monocoque with a steel rollover structure is surrounded by a carbon fibre outer skin. The rear wing is equipped with a drag reduction system (DRS), which folds down at the touch of a button and significantly reduces drag even further. Inside, the buyer can expect a state-of-the-art racing cockpit with a multifunction steering wheel and electronic dashboard.
With these specifications, the Aston Martin Vantage DTM is one of the most modern racing touring cars ever built. In addition to this exceptional car, HWA offers the buyer further attractive benefits. In addition to a comprehensive spare parts package with replacement engine, gearbox, front splitter, carbon brake discs, shock absorbers and spare wheels, the purchase price includes a two-day, comprehensive introduction to the race track to commission this exclusive racing car*. Experienced engineers and technicians from HWA AG will familiarise the buyer with all the details of the Aston Martin Vantage DTM. Additional services such as maintenance and repairs can be offered on request.
It is also possible to have the Aston Martin Vantage DTM looked after by HWA's engineering specialists when it is in action on the race track. This means that the buyer benefits from the same expertise as the Formula 1 world champion.
The buyer of the Aston Martin Vantage DTM receives an exclusive and impressive piece of motorsport history with state-of-the-art technology. The services provided by HWA also guarantee a lasting driving experience.
