Team complete: Formula 3 race winner Jake Hughes to drive for HWA RACELAB in 2019

The third driver has been decided. 24-year-old Brit Jake Hughes will be the team-mate of Keyvan Andres and Bent Viscaal in HWA RACELAB’s Formula 3 team. He has already brought home multiple wins in the predecessor series of the FIA Formula 3 Championship.

Affalterbach, 20th February 2019 – The new HWA RACELAB driver has already proven in an impressive manner that he can battle for wins at Formula 3 level. Over the last three years, Jake Hughes was in action in the predecessor series of the FIA Formula 3 Championship and stood at the top of the podium at least once each season. In 2016 he won two races in the GP3 series for DAMS, in 2017 he finished first at the Nürburgring as driver of the HitechGP team in the Formula 3 European Championship, and last year he was fastest in the ART Grand Prix car at the GP3 race in Spielberg.

HWA RACELAB is one of ten teams in the newly established FIA Formula 3 Championship. Each team will compete with three cars. The series will share the bill with Formula 1 at eight race weekends and features a total of 16 races. Barcelona hosts the opening round on 11th May.
