Working towards the dream of elite motorsport together: HWA and REMUS enter into partnership for 2020 season

  • Global market leader for sports exhaust systems will become new HWA RACELAB team sponsor in Formula 2 and Formula 3
  • Cooperation to commence at the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix
  • Shared aim of supporting emerging motorsport talent

Affalterbach, 15th November 2019 – HWA RACELAB will be supported by renowned sports exhaust manufacturer REMUS in the upcoming FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 season. The aim of the partnership is to provide young HWA RACELAB drivers with even stronger support. Within the FIA Formula pyramid, talented racing drivers compete in the Formula 3 and Formula 2 racing series as they work their way gradually towards Formula 1. HWA RACELAB will be fielding its own team in both series in 2020.

The cooperation with REMUS will commence at the FIA F3 World Cup in Macau (14th to 17th November). This will be the first time that HWA AG will be taking part with its own HWA RACELAB team. Three cars will be in action in Macau for the motorsport experts from Affalterbach, driven by Sophia Flörsch (Germany), Keyvan Andres (Iran) and Jake Hughes (Great Britain).

Both parties have already enjoyed successful cooperation in 2017 and 2018, when REMUS was involved as a technology partner for the Mercedes-AMG DTM team. From 2013 to 2018, the Austrian company supported young drivers starting out in Formula racing by sponsoring the REMUS Formula Trophy. Getting involved in Formula 2 and Formula 3 was the next logical step for REMUS.

Ulrich Fritz, CEO HWA AG:
“Competing with our own team in Formula 2 and Formula 3 represents a new challenge for the upcoming season. We are looking forward to some exciting times. However, you certainly need powerful partners to overcome a challenge like this. We are delighted to have found such a strong partner with REMUS, another company dedicated to supporting talented young drivers. We have already enjoyed successful cooperation with REMUS as a technology partner when we were working as the DTM operations team for Mercedes-AMG. It is nice to be able to continue this cooperation. Like us, REMUS is a company that is always evolving, while still performing at the highest level.”

Stephan Zöchling, REMUS Managing Director:
“The REMUS corporate history is the best example of how a dream can really lead to great things. It is possible to become a global leader with determination and consistent teamwork. That is why we like to support young drivers who dream of a career in motorsport and intend to make it to the very top. Our partner HWA AG has many years’ experience in motorsport that speak for themselves. We have already worked together successfully in the DTM.”
