Affalterbach, 18th May 2021 – Jack Aitken is a member of the Williams Driver Academy and a Formula 1 reserve driver for the Williams Racing team, which will contest its 750th Grand Prix in the pinnacle of motor racing in Monaco. The Anglo-Korean made his debut in the Formula 1 World Championship in Sakhir (Bahrain) in November 2020.

Jack can call on a wealth of experience in the FIA Formula 2 Championship. Between 2018 and 2020, he contested 67 races in the series, winning four - one of them at the Baku City Circuit, where he won the feature race for Campos Racing in 2019. The 25-year-old has also shown his versatility this season, with starts in the GT World Challenge Europe.

Jack will line up in the number 22 HWA RACELAB car for the events in Monaco and Baku, each of which feature three races on the support programme for the Formula 1 World Championship. Alongside him in the number 23 car will be Alessio Deledda. Jack replaces Matteo Nannini, who will focus on his outings for HWA RACELAB in FIA Formula 3 for the rest of the season.

Matteo showed his potential in the junior series at the season-opener in Barcelona. He finished third in race three to claim a spot on the podium. He even came within touching distance of victory in race two, when he crashed out with just one lap remaining.

Jack Aitken
"I was surprised but also very honoured that HWA asked me to support the team in Monaco and Baku. They are two of my favourite circuits and it is going to be a real pleasure! I know HWA from races in the past, in which we have competed against each other. I have always been aware of their high standard. I am looking forward to returning to Formula 2 and working with HWA, in order to get the absolute maximum out of the two weekends."

Thomas Strick, team principal HWA RACELAB
"We are delighted to have acquired such a talented driver as Jack. With his wealth of experience in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, he is sure to be a great help to us. In the case of Matteo, we will be focussing on the FIA Formula 3 Championship for the rest of the season. He has already shown his potential in that series at the start of the season. We now want to develop that potential and offer Matteo the best possible support on the rest of his career path. It is now important for him to continuously develop with regular successes. We feel this is the right step to sustainably develop and support him in the current phase of his promising career."
