New Pagani Huayra R Evo with the centerpiece from HWA

The Italian car manufacturer Pagani recently presented the evolutionary model of the Pagani Huayra R race track hypercar - the Huayra R Evo. As with the predecessor model, the powertrain will be developed and manufactured by HWA AG. The Affalterbach-based company is thus continuing its successful partnership with Pagani and continues to offer a wide range of after-sales services.

Affalterbach – Last weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the members of the Supervisory Board of HWA AG, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Willibald Dörflinger, as well as Management Board members Martin Marx and Gordian von Schöning, met with Horacio and Christopher Pagani for a mutual exchange. On this occasion, the further cooperation between the two automobile manufacturers, which had already been confirmed in writing, was reaffirmed. The Affalterbach-based company will now also be responsible for the development and production of the powertrain components for Pagani's latest car model - the Huayra R Evo. This strategic cooperation between HWA AG and Pagani S.P.A. is one of the cornerstones of the Huayra R Evo. The engineers and technicians from HWA and Pagani are once again working closely together on this exclusive project to further develop the technology derived from racing for the evolutionary model. The familiar and reliable drive unit from the previous model - consisting of engine, transmission and electronics - is being revised and optimized once again for the Huayra R Evo.

The naturally aspirated V12 engine with a displacement of six liters now delivers an output of 900 hp (662 kW) at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 770 Nm, which is available across the range from 5,800 to 8,200 rpm. With a maximum rotational speed of 9,200 rpm, the engine of the Huayra R Evo offers outstanding performance on the racetrack.

Newly designed camshafts and adapted intake funnels ensure a specially optimized load exchange to achieve this increase in power. The new engine management application required for this increased power band guarantees perfect performance in terms of power delivery and drivability. The exhaust tract also ensures the unmistakable sound of the Italian hypercar.

The sequential six-speed gearbox is also used in the Huayra R Evo. A three-disc sintered metal clutch from racing connects the engine to the unsynchronized dog-ring gearbox with an efficiency of 95%. Weighing just 80 kg, the transmission offers maximum shifting precision and extremely short shifting times when changing gear. The entire powertrain unit is designed as a load-bearing element and is firmly connected to the monocoque. This means that the engine and transmission contribute to the overall rigidity of the chassis and can resist high dynamic loads.

Another focus of this project is the further development of the entire car electronics. The complete wiring harness, the engine control unit as well as the electronic and electrical system components are being revised for the Pagani Huayra R Evo. A new electronic component integrated into the Huayra R Evo is a CAS system (Collision Avoidance System), which offers the driver additional safety when driving and maneuvering. The electromagnetic shielding of the complex electronics has also been further optimized.

In addition to the construction of the engine, the transmission unit and the car electronics, HWA also offers many after-sales services for Pagani models. This includes the revision of the powertrain unit of various Pagani models. The engineers and technicians of HWA AG also provide technical support for the exclusive Pagani Arte in Pista track days for the customer cars in order to ensure optimum performance and driving pleasure. With the long-term joint venture with Pagani, HWA AG continues to position itself as an engineering specialist for high-performance automobiles, where the Affalterbach-based company can fully utilize its expertise from more than 25 years of professional racing and the development of complete cars.

Martin Marx, CEO HWA AG: "The entire company is very proud of the cooperation with Pagani. The successful implementation in the Huayra R and the continuation of the project with the Huayra R Evo shows that HWA AG provides high-quality and reliable work in the field of high-performance components and car electronics. I think that we have created a very emotional product together with Pagani, which enriches the automotive world. From our after-sales services such as the revisions and our support at Pagani's track days, it is clear that this partnership is designed for the long term and that we are looking forward to and motivated by the tasks ahead."
